House System
Established in 2007, the GA House System offers several compelling benefits for students entering the Upper School. Placement in one of our seven Houses...
- Provides each student a close-knit community within the broader life of Upper School, which supports greater connection and individual relationship-building
- Provides leadership opportunities for students within each House
- Creates a setting for additional mentoring and collaboration
- Enables inter-house activities and friendly competitions
- Allows faculty advisors to focus on one House, ensuring that all students receive the kinds of attention and guidance that will help them thrive.
House Names
Each House is named after a notable headmaster, teacher, alum, or community member in GA's history: Alcott Day, Galloway, Kershaw, Osbourn, Roberts, Truesdell, and Washington.

Competition Cup
Informal, fun competitions earn house points toward the annual Competition Cup. Activities throughout the year include intellectual, spirit-based, and athletic events, culminating with House Olympics at the end of the year.
House Lounges
Each House has its own meeting space in the Upper School, which includes student lockers and lounge furniture. These spaces are used for House Meetings and just hanging out or studying during free time.
